I've considered the negative connotations connected with the invention of teleportation. If someone could be anywhere they wanted in the blink of an eye, how would you really know if the person cares about you? Is their visit out of convenience, or is it out of love? Consider the man who takes a red-eye flight half way round the world just to visit his girlfriend who is studying in Europe for the summer. Or the girl who rushes through traffic to the airport to stop the boy she loves from leaving. Teleportation would nullify all of these dire, heated scenarios. Who would care anymore about making an effort? Who cares, as it is?
